Read Across America Spirt Week

Each year, we host a Read Across America Spirit Week. This year, it will take place from March 3rd to 7th. Throughout the week, students and staff will dress according to the daily themes.

During the week, we will play school-wide bingo and have daily trivia (prizes will be awarded as we have funds). Our annual book character parade will take place on Thursday, March 6th for PreK-2 (grades 3-5 will be spectators). The parade route starts outside of the red hall on the gravel road behind the school. Classes in PreK-2nd will create a parade banner and a little blurb about their class for Ms. Castle to introduce as they proceed down the parade route. PreK-2nd grade parents are more than welcome to be spectators.

March 1st also marks the beginning of our competition between the Linden Oaks Schools. Last year, our students devoured a whopping 5,451,533 words while diving into MackinVia eBooks. Although we didn’t sweep the competition, we achieved our school goal and secured second place. This year, our goal is 6,000,000 words, a 10% increase from last year. If we achieve our goal, it’s slime time for Mr. Sanford! This competition lasts all month long.

Read-a-thon fundraiser is from March 3rd-17th Parents will create accounts for their students and track all minutes read outside of school. Teachers will be able to create accounts for each class to track group and class reading sessions, library visits and other literacy assignments.
