Gordon CSI day theme was "Fishing for Treasures". Gordon staff participated in interactive activities related to making meaning of school data, reviewing COGNIA standards, and reflecting on the Gordon purpose statement.

It is time to celebrate! Our Technology Pirate of the month goes to 🥁..... Dr. Peaden! Dr. Peaden embeds technology within her lessons each and every day. She loves to try new things and encourages creativity through digital learning for her students. Some of the things you will see used to engage learners in her classroom are Ozobots, Lego Robotics, Kahoot!, Peardeck, and Google Forms. Last Friday, during field day, we hosted our Q4 Engineering STEAM Challenge: Build a Boat. We had 25 participating teams with lots of success! Students and families built a boat to keep the princess safe and dry across her water path. As an added challenge, students raced their boats to see who could get the princess across in the fastest time. Our top three boats successfully crossed in under 4.5 seconds! Way to go Patriots! #STEAM #dodeainaction #dodstem

We hosted a SLIME event to close out field day at DoDEA Gordon Elementary School and it was quite EXTRAORDINARY! All of our students, faculty, and parents in attendance were able to SLIME Mr. Sanford and Mrs. Green as a reward for our reading challenge in the month of March. Thank you, Mr. Sanford, for your willingness to get SLIMED to promote and encourage reading with our Gordon Patriots! #MOMC #readingrocks

The pirate ship is on the move again! Please help us congratulate Mrs. Merritt/Ms. Kennedy's class for being recognized as the April Technology Pirate of the Month! Mrs. Merritt's students use Clicker8 software along with the Unique learning system and Classlink daily. They also like to use digital cameras and Wixie to be creative and show what they know. Congratulations to our Gordon Patriots! In March, our students devoured a whopping 5,451,533 words while diving into MackinVia eBooks. Although we didn’t sweep the competition, we achieved our school goal and secured second place. In honor of our hard work, it’s slime time for our assistant principal, Mr. Sanford! Get ready for some gooey fun on April 19th! 📚👏🤪 Patriots, let’s not forget that MackinVia eBooks are available throughout the school year. So, let’s continue to read for enjoyment!

In late March, DoDEA Gordon Elementary School hosted the Q3 STEAM Challenge, the Egg Drop! We had 25 teams participate! Let's take a moment to celebrate all of our students and families for making this event happen with your creations. Congratulations to everyone who participated and had fun using the engineering design process to imagine, plan, create, and improve their designs!

Congratulations to Ms. Colley, second-grade teacher here at DoDEA Gordon Elementary School, for being recognized as the September Technology Pirate of the Month! When you get to wear your pajamas to school, it is an EXTRAORDINARY day! This afternoon, we wrapped up our week long celebrations with flashlight Friday for Read Across America 🔦. Students in all classes had the opportunity to read using a flashlight or lantern.
