"Fishing for Treasures" on CSI Day
Fishing for Treasures
The first CSI day of SY 24-25 for the Gordon Elementary staff was a fun day with the theme "Fishing for Treasures". The agenda was filled with interactive activities that centered around making meaning of school data and conducting a root cause analysis using the fishbone protocol. A root cause analysis supports schools as they seek to identify the factors that contribute to student achievement outcomes. Additionally, it allows schools to brainstorm potential causes and design a plan that will supports improving student achievement for ALL students.
The second part of the day was dedicated to reviewing and understanding the Cognia standards and identifying the priority standards based on the Mid-Atlantic District Self-Assessment results. The Mid-Atlantic District, which includes Gordon Elementary, has an accreditation visit from Cognia in the spring of 2025. Cognia outlined FOUR key characteristics that serves as a guide to ensure our educational institution provides high-quality teaching and learning throughout our schools. Those strands are Culture of Learning, Leadership for Learning, Engagement of Learning, and Growth of Learning.Â
The final part of the day consisted of the Gordon staff reviewing our purpose statement to ensure that it aligned with DoDEA's vision statement and the Mid Atlantic District Motto. Also, we reviewed the purpose statement to ensure that it reflected our beliefs about our school community. Stay tuned for an updated purpose statement.
